Transcortical anaesthesia

Transcortical anesthesia

Transcortical anaesthesia belongs to the group of intraosseous anaesthesias along with osteocentral anaesthesia. It therefore offers all of the advantages of this type of technique: immediate, no failures, no numbness, no post-operative side effects, no complementary lingual or palatal injections required. .

Osteocentral anaesthesia is the easiest to perform and is therefore recommended over the transcortical technique. The latter is however very useful in case of an absence of septum.
ie.: edentulous areas or the retromolar trigonum.
